blog 3: not like man
I don’t know about you, but I am so thankful that God is not like man.
We as people have short fuses.
We don’t always forgive and when we do we tend to not forget.
We get frustrated.
Offended easily.
When we are done with you we are done with you.
You hurt us or someone we love, we hurt back.
We lie to get our way or cover our butts.
This is how humans are and yes even Christian’s. Because we are just man, but thankfully God is NOT like man.
Numbers 23:19 God is not a man, so he does not lie. He is not human, so he does not change his mind. Has he ever spoken and failed to act? Has he ever promised and not carried it through?
I have 3 little kids 6,4, and 1 years old. And if I’m being totally honest I get frustrated. I’ve been saying something out loud that I need to work on. I’ve been saying, “you’re getting on my nerves!” That is the truth in how I’m feeling at that moment, BUT as a godly mother I should not be saying that. Recently my mother told me “God doesn’t say that to you.”
Which made me think….
Thank you Jesus that you don’t look at me in my tantrums, pitty parties, or just straight failures and say “ugh you’re getting on my nerves” “can you stop doing that?” “are you messing up again!?”
NO! That is NOT who you are.
Ephesians 2:4–5But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved.
His grace and mercy for each one of us is so deep and so vast. Man would’ve looked at the old Lexi and wrote me off as a lost cause. I remember a guy I was dating at one time, his mom told him “you need to get far away from that one”, I don’t blame her one bit. BUT man looks at the outward right? Man looks at people and see a lost cause, a loser, someone with no future.
BUT God is NOT like man.
He doesn’t see us how man does. He doesn’t treat us how man does.
I have this thought about how it must have taken place in heaven with the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. God looked at His son and said I love ______(insert your name). Will you go and pay the ultimate price My Son? Your life as a sacrifice for ______(insert name). And Jesus I’m sure looked at His Father in Heaven… smiling said… “yes”.
We have to understand this. We need to get this in our soul. That we are so loved, we are so wanted, and we are so worthy of His love!
And I get it. Maybe this is hard for some to accept. Some have had people, family members, people close to them hurt them really really bad. If you’re reading this and that is you.
I have to tell you.
God is NOT like man.
Someone may have hurt you, turned their back on you, or betrayed you. Made you feel less than, worthless, or broke you. BUT that is not Jesus. Maybe the church or people in it have hurt you.
That is not God.
He is NOT like man.
I believe we can be scared or uncertain in coming to God because we don’t know how to view Him. We may have had a parents, or someone close us that used harsh words towards us, didn’t make us feel safe in hard times, or even abandoned us.
But remember God is NOT like man.
God doesn’t look at you in the way of man. He’s not “annoyed” with you, He’s not “frustrated” with you, you’re not getting on His “nerves”.
He is NOT like man. He is rich in mercy, He is kind, He is compassionate and He is deeply in love with YOU!
When you learn this and receive this, when you allow this to be the very truth above everything else you will start to feel the weight of people lift off you, the weight of your past, the weight of the world lift off of you. Knowing that God is for you! Knowing that He will never leave you, knowing that what you care about, He cares about changes everything. Knowing that God is NOT like man. I want to leave you with this last scripture and I pray as you read this the lies of who you believe God to be will be casted down and the truth of who God really is will start to breath life into you my friend.
Isaiah 54:10
"Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed," says the Lord, who has compassion on you."
